Upon acceptance, a 25% deposit is required to hold the space. The applicant is not considered “on the course” until this deposit had been received...
From the 30-day mark until one week before the beginning of the course, one half of the deposit is refundable.
I'm wondering if we could skip this step and just keep the deposit from the 30-day mark through the beginning of the course. It is simpler, for one thing, and by the 30-day mark, we are already laying out a good bit of money ourselves, so could use firm commitments from that point on. Protecting one half of 25% isn't much incentive for someone to stay with it, if he or she is wobbling. (In cases of real crisis or need, we'd be refunding the whole thing anyhow.)

Of course, if someone pays more than just the deposit, the amount above and beyond 25% is to be returned no matter what.
