Looking ahead

Hey, All,

A thought this a.m. for connecting with the Mexico part of NA; what if we invited Rodrigo Suárez Hoffman to come to Raft Island? It would be a way of connecting our work to the OTHER North American team and would also give me a chance to work with Rodrigo, who could perhaps step in sometime if my schedule at the training course prohibits my being on a course (which won’t happen for a larger course, since I help to determine the training course schedule and Daria knows about my commitment to GC, but could happen if a lot of small regional courses pop up on the calendar). Just a thought.

Second, wondering if the September target date is firm or could it slide into October? If it could, I’ll be free the week of October 11-18 anyway, though I think there is something brewing in San Cugat which could run from October 10-25. Does this rule out our doing something concurrently? Also, I think we’re working around TTA, which takes precedence, for sure.

Last thing is in re: the CC course in June. After Mahwah, I offered Kim Cary another shot at coming on a course as an AT teacher-in-training, if she completed a lengthly series of lessons with me. She has subsequently fulfilled her end of the deal. The course last summer was too large for me to give Kim the hands-on support she needs to manage on a course; the upcoming June weekend, however, is about the right size.

My sense is that Kim would need to get herself to the course, but historically, when she has taken on this role on other occasions, she doesn't pay tuition. Just a heads-up in the unfinished business category.

Best to everyone,

SBC

(Who hasn't yet been successful at signing in as herself.)

i like both these ideas. i don't know rodrigo at all but these sounds like an excellent way to connect north and central/south/hispanic america. maybe we can pay his fare?

the raft island date slidiness is fine with me...

regarding kim cary, i have a great deal of personal affection for her dating back to my charlottesville days but i don't know her alexander work. i like sandra's idea of her getting to the course on her own but not paying tuition, if this appeals to her and is workable.

Something else that occurred to me after the call is that rather than organizing a kind of NA-centric AAD, which feels like it reinforces the separation rather than building bridges, maybe what we (the nafgc board and others) should do is participate more directly in the AAD's that are run out of GC-central.

Curt's comment certainly resonates with me. Is there some way we can encourage others from NA to do so? I know the 600 Euro, circa $900 is certainly a deterrent for many, but for such a long course it's not unreasonable.

And to comment on Sandra's ideas, they both sound good to me.
